NEW DELHI: Emotions ran high for Indian skipper
Rohit Sharma as he led India to a historic ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in front of a packed, electrifying crowd at the Dubai International Stadium. India secured the title with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final, marking their second ICC trophy in just nine months.
Their previous triumph came in June 2024 when they defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados.

In Dubai, he recreated the iconic moment with a unique twist.
After guiding India to a thrilling win, Rohit strode onto the field, stump in hand, and executed an astonishing feat. He tossed the pointed end of the stump into the ground, where it landed perfectly upright, leaving fans in awe.
Rohit also put an end to speculations about his career following India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph, asserting that he has no plans to quit the ODI format anytime soon.
Since the Australia tour, questions had been swirling about Rohit's future in the team and his role as captain. However, his match-winning knock of 76 in the final against New Zealand on Sunday has silenced doubts, giving him a fresh lease on his career.
"I am not going to retire from this (ODI) format. Going forward please don't spread rumours," Rohit said at the post-match press conference.
When asked about his future plans, Rohit responded with a reassuring statement, saying that things will remain as they are.
"No future plans. Jo ho raha hain, woh chalta jayega (Whatever is happening will keep continuing)," Rohit added.
