While advance sales in North America totaled $55,738 across 182 locations, with 298 shows and 3,791 tickets sold but on day 1 the film was able to earn just over US $ 40,000 in the United States indicating that the film has not managed to connect with the audience. This performance is particularly surprising given the film's earlier momentum. The trailer for Robinhood garnered over 13 million views in just 5 days. The trailer's blend of humor and action, coupled with Nithiin's energetic performance and stylish visuals, contributed to this enthusiastic reception.
However, the film encountered setbacks prior to its release. Originally slated for a December 25, 2024, debut, Robinhood was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Mythri Movie Makers announced the delay on social media, stating that a new release date would be communicated soon.
The response to the film is India as well hasn't been great. As per Sacnilk - the film in opening day has earned just Rs 2 crore while Mad Square which it clashed it on release day went on to earn Rs 7.75 crore and even in the North American market it’s day 1 collection stood at over YS $ 233,0000.
The modest opening in North America underscores the challenges faced by Robinhood in translating online enthusiasm into box office success. Factors such as the postponement, market competition, and regional audience preferences may have contributed to this outcome. As the film continues its theatrical run, its performance in other markets and subsequent weeks will be crucial in determining its overall success.
