On May 13, the Asiatic Society in Kolkata hosted an event titled
'Harmony of Souls: Celebrating Tagore and Buddha', blending scholarship with cultural expression. Held from 3 pm to 5 pm at Vidyasagar Hall in the heritage building, the programme included an exhibition, lectures, and cultural performances.
Organised with support from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the event explored the philosophical and spiritual intersections between
Rabindranath Tagore and
Gautama Buddha. Through curated exhibits and talks, it highlighted their shared emphasis on peace, compassion, and the human spirit.
The event featured speakers and performers who reflected on the enduring relevance of both figures—Tagore as a poet-philosopher and Buddha as a spiritual guide. Attendees experienced a reflective afternoon that brought together history, art, and thought.
