Renuka Shahane holds the special title of being Shah Rukh Khan’s first on-screen heroine. They worked together in the TV show Circus, directed by Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah. In a recent chat with Radio Nasha Official, Renuka shared her experience of working with Shah Rukh in the early days of his career.
Renuka Shahane Recalls Being Shah Rukh Khan’s First Heroine
Renuka Shahane described working with Shah Rukh Khan as an amazing experience. She recalled that he had already gained popularity through Fauji, and large crowds would gather just to watch him shoot. She admired his professionalism, saying he managed shoots with two different teams and often worked for 36 hours straight without any complaints.

A Humble and Respectful Star
Renuka Shahane also praised Shah Rukh Khan for his humility and respectful nature, a trait many of his co-actors have admired. She noted that he treats everyone on set equally, regardless of their role, and doesn’t believe in hierarchies. She highlighted how courteous he is, especially towards women, and how he genuinely values people’s efforts and connects with them warmly.

A Fun Connection Through Pathaan
Interestingly, Renuka Shahane’s husband, Ashutosh Rana, also acted alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Pathaan, playing Colonel Luthra. When Renuka posted pictures of their movie outing to watch the film, Shah Rukh playfully responded on Twitter, jokingly asking if she had told her husband that she was his first heroine, or if it should remain a secret so he wouldn’t get “fired from the agency.”
