Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Deva’ not only marks his first outing of 2025, but also Malayalam director
Rosshan Andrews’ first stunt in the Bollywood industry. The high-octane action drama, which was released on January 31, was headlined by Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde. Following a decent opening the movie saw a growth in the business over its debut weekend, but on its first Monday, it witnessed a significant dip. However, despite the drop the ‘Deva’ outperformed the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Sky Force’ by a good margin.
Deva Movie Review
According to the Sacnilk report, ‘Deva’ opened with Rs.5.5 crore net collection in India. This graph saw a positive change over the weekend, with the movie collection collecting ₹6.4 crore and ₹7.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday. However, on Monday, according to the early estimates, the movie’s earnings dropped down to Rs. 2.50 crore. The collection of the movie after 4 days of theatrical release stands at Rs. 21.65 crore.

However, it is worth noting that with its release, the film gave tough competition to Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sky Force.’ The early estimates show that on Monday ‘Sky Force’ collected Rs. 1.35 crore, which is almost half of what ‘Deva’ made.
‘Deva’
Deva centers on ACP Dev Ambre, portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, a police officer who suffers from memory loss while trying to solve the murder of his closest friend. Pooja Hegde stars as his love interest, Diya Sathaye, who works as a journalist. The film also features important performances from Pavail Gulati and Kubbra Sait. The director has made significant alterations to the climax in comparison to the original Malayalam film.
As far as the movie’s review goes. Times Of India gave the movie a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5. Our review reads - “Director Rosshan Andrrews sets the stage for a gripping whodunnit right from the opening scene…Over the course of 156 minutes, the screenplay team—Bobby–Sanjay, Abbas Dalal, Hussain Dalal, Arshad Syed, and Sumit Arora—takes you through the various layers and shades of Dev, and the unraveling of the mystery.”
