Boston Red Sox star Rafael Devers has been making headlines during the 2025 MLB season due to the repeated changes with respect to his position. The franchise has been in a state of turmoil ever since Alex Bregman was roped into the roster. His addition to the team went on to directly impact Devers’ position in the team, as he was shifted from third base to the spot of the designated hitter, and currently he was asked to switch from DH to first base. The Red Sox third baseman became the talk of the town after he was asked to change his position in the team roster for the second time. With the speculations mounting around the position of the first baseman position in the roster, Devers simply refused to play at the particular position.
Amidst all the turmoil in the Boston Red Sox team with respect to Rafael Devers’ repeated changes in the roster, manager Alex Cora spoke about his hitting skills. According to the Red Sox manager, Devers is one of the best designated hitters in the major league baseball fraternity in the current era. During an interview with the NESN, Cora said,
“Very comfortable, and keep growing and keep learning about it. I think the strength and conditioning, the trainers, and the hitting group have done an amazing job supporting him. With all the noise around the Boston Red Sox’ roster, Alex Cora strongly believes that Rafael Devers’ has displayed a great show on the field with respect to his terrific hitting skills. However, Devers was asked to play on the first base after the Red Sox star Triston Casas met with an accidental fate that led to his sudden exit from the team in the middle of the 2025 MLB season. Casas went on to injure his knee as he ruptured his left patellar tendon. Reportedly in the middle of the game, he was taken to the nearby hospital after being lifted by a stretcher.
