The “Best in the World” CM Punk has been on a roll in WWE ever since his return to the company, back in 2023. He has fought some great battles with the likes of Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins and other big stalwarts of WWE. He even Main evented night one of WrestleMania 41, something he had not done yet in his illustrious wrestling career. Now, the six time WWE World Champion has targeted a current Champion of WWE as his future opponent.
While talking to Netflix’s ‘Tudum’, Punk shared his mindset on the current WWE dynamics and stars. He had some great words of praise for the likes of Liv Morgan, Finn Balor, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. But along with them, he has his eyes set on a current Champion, who competed in his first WrestleMania event, and came out victorious. That is none other than the new United States Champion, Jacob Fatu. While he did square up against the “Samoan Werewolf” during last year’s Survivor Series “WarGames” match when he aided the team of Roman Reigns against the team of Solo Sikoa, that had Jacob in it. But now Punk wants to go one on one with the new “Enforcer” of the Bloodline.
CM Punk and Roman Reigns team up for epic Wargames win: Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 highlights
“Guys I want to work with-Jacob Fatu. Got a little taste at WarGames, but one on one stuff is my bread and butter”. As stated earlier, they did have a bit of a tussle during the WarGames match. Notably, at the main event of WrestleMania night one this year, Punk was betrayed by his former manager and close friend Paul Heyman. Not just him, Paul had also betrayed Roman to side with Seth Rollins and help him win the monumental triple threat match which was the most awaited clash of night one at WrestleMania 41. Interestingly, it was out of respect for Heyman that he had joined the team of Roman Reigns at WarGames. Apart from Jacob, he also sounded interested in fighting Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio. “Finn Balor is fantastic. I selfishly want to lock back up with Rey Mysterio, teach him a lesson for having such a brat kid.” Continued Punk obviously hinting towards Rey’s son “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio.
On RAW last night, Punk intervened in the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Jey Uso to help Uso retain his World Heavyweight Championship. He came out with a steel chair and decimated both Bron Breakker and Rollins with it, to save the day for Jey.
