Lewis Hamilton is in Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, where he will be driving a Ferrari on its home ground for the first time. In a new development, his father, Anthony Hamilton, is set to receive an official role in the FIA next month. He has been working on the young driver programme for the past 18 months and seems to have impressed FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem with his efforts.

Anthony Hamilton to get an official role in FIA

As reported by The Times, Anthony Hamilton has been working in an advisory capacity at the FIA over the last 18 months, but his role will become official during the FIA conference in Macau next month. There, the governing body will officially launch the FIA’s Young Driver Development Pathway. The programme nurtures young drivers from the grassroots level, aiming to guide them into becoming professional race drivers. BBC.com quoted a spokesperson as saying that Anthony Hamilton had "provided invaluable insights into an area he is very familiar with".
Anthony Hamilton mentored Lewis Hamilton from a young age and was his manager until 2010. Lewis lived with his mother until he was 12, then moved in with his father, who worked in the IT sector. His father bought him a go-kart when he was a child and worked tirelessly to support his racing ambitions.Lewis Hamilton will be racing in a Ferrari on the team’s home ground for the first time at Imola. However, he did win the F1 Sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix. He will definitely be aiming to reach the podium in Imola, Ferrari’s home ground.
