George Russell turns heads with posh Mercedes-AMG One drive with Alex Albon
The drive, seemingly a post-race wind-down, went viral on social media after fans spotted the unusual car with its distinctive scissor doors open. The AMG One is not merely a status symbol — it is a technological wonder born directly out of the technology of Formula 1.
The Mercedes-AMG One is one of the most ambitious road cars ever made, conceived out of the manufacturer's desire to close the gap between professional-level racing and everyday driving. Its hybrid power unit features a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit taken straight from Mercedes' Formula 1 hardware combined with electric motors that, collectively, produce a jaw-dropping 1,063 horsepower.
Originally priced between $2.3 and $3.4 million, the AMG One's exclusivity and performance have seen its price skyrocket. Few units have been made, so it's now a collector's item, merging racetrack heritage with street-level luxury.
George Russell gears up for leadership role at Mercedes
Where George Russell's Monaco joyride has had the world's attention, his on-track performance has also been impressive. With Lewis Hamilton departing Mercedes at the end of the season, George Russell has taken to his role as a team leader alongside teen sensation Kimi Antonelli.
Russell qualified third and finished fifth at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah after a difficult race, crediting the finish to tire wear. “My tyres dropped off the cliff, and it was all about just bringing the car home in P5. Ultimately, we didn’t have the pace today. Even if we had managed more at different points, that was the maximum available to us this evening,” Russell conceded after the race.
